Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre FC Secretary Berni Borsberry rounds-up the weekend’s action…
The season continued with a full league program starting on Saturday with the under 11 girls.
The first game v a strong Washington Wildcats would see how the girls had progressed since the first meeting which Washington won comfortably.
However the girls produced the performance of the season so far. Despite going behind from a corner and trailing at half-time, the girls produced some flowing football and goals from Ceasar and Mansfield secured the three points with a 2-1 win.
Having put in so much effort in the first game and only a short break it was Beamish next, but despite defending well it was Beamish winning 3-0.
The under 16 girls travelled to Willington and produced the first win of the season. Two first-half goals from Firth and a debut goal from Callaghan put the girls in control and despite Willington pulling a goal back it was some excellent work from the opposition goalkeeper which prevented Aycliffe from scoring again final score 2-1.
The under 7 & 8 boys travelled to Shildon and Stockton, both teams playing some excellent football in their non-competitive format of the game.
The under 9 Eagles were at home against Stockton Yellows and found themselves 2-0 down at half-time but a brace from Bowater in the second half and the points were shared 2-2.
The under 9 Falcons had a similar game being 2-0 down at half time to Shildon, but could only find a single goal in the second half to finish 1-2.
The under 10 Falcons took part in a 5 goal thriller but were edged out 2-3 by Hartlpool Saxons.
The Under 11’s travelled to Stockton West End but returned home empty handed.
The under 12’s were at home to Greatham , the visitors taking the lead but Aycliffe equalized before the break. No further goals in the second half Final score 1-1
Under 13 Eagles were away to Fishburn giving a brilliant all round performance to race to a convincing 9-1 win, goals from Race 3, Hall 2, Lowe, Ryans, Barker and Copeland.
The Under 13 Falcons and Under 16’s were at home v Darlington Spraire and Stokesley but the visitors went home from both games with the points.
The under 15’s travelled to Fishburn and produced the best performance of the season so far winning 6-1
Newton Aycliffe Youth are an FA community Club and welcome new players across all our age groups. We are particularly looking for yr 6 boys to join our under 11’s who are enjoying their first season at 11-a-side and need a few more players to build the squad.
