It was another wet weekend closing many pitches including the Oakleaf. Those games that went ahead were away or central venues.
Football Development Sessions
Under 7 Wildcats (girls)
The girls have been training hard indoors all Winter but are now pleased to be outdoors on the grass, as training is now every Sunday outdoors at the Oakleaf. The girls are learning the game at every session and are looking forward to their first friendlies in preparation for the start of the new season in September. A good bunch of girls but the team still has opportunities for a couple of new girls to join. This team is for year 2 girls contact Berni 07939045242

U10 Girls v Durham United
A trip to the central venue at the Washington Hub for tough battle for the girls, having no subs, but they all stepped up. Phoebe scored four times giving the keeper no chance of saving any of them. Daisy and her defence battled hard and almost kept a clean sheet. Then Amelia rounded of the day with a goal from a Phoebe, a cross into the box that she calmly put away. All the girls gave 100% effort and deserved the win,
Hartlepool u11’s v U11 Wildcats
It was a great game, with two good teams testing each other. Aycliffe went into the break behind as Hartlepool scored twice but they came out in the second half on the front foot. Goals from Nyah, Lucy and Evie gave the girls a slender lead. Then Hartlepool were awarded a penalty but thankfully for Aycliffe it was put wide. Aycliffe then stepped up and scored a 4th through Phoebe, to wrap up the points with the last kick of the game. These girls do not know when they are beaten, as they never give up and play every game to the final whistle
Wear United 3 v 2 Newton Aycliffe Women
With a depleted squad and short on experienced defenders, this was always going to be a tough game for the women. The hosts started the brighter and raced into a 2-0 lead , despite a couple of chances for Aycliffe, the first half finished with no change. A change at half time and a positive team talk saw Newton Aycliffe play the better football but it was Sunderland who scored first against the run of play 3-0. However the women weren’t giving up as goals from Amber and Kate got us back into the game , but just couldn’t find an equaliser. Player of the match today went to Izzy, just turned 16, playing in her first match with the team and never put a foot wrong, well done Izzy and welcome to the team. Thanks you for the continued support from
