Adam Cayless reviews Newton Aycliffe Junior FC’s action from last week…
U8’s – The under 8s entertained mount pleasant in what turned out to be a close game! Few chances for both teams in the first half meant the score was 0-0 at halftime! The deadlock was broke midway through the second half by Aycliffe player jason beadle and that strike was enough to separate the two teams at the end of the game in a very entertaining game with some great performances from the Aycliffe players. Mom Parker McWilliam
U9’s – (TJFA)…..The 9’s travelled to Billingham to face last year’s TJFA runners up. Aycliffe had the lion’s share of possession but chances were not converted in the first half. Chloe was strong in defence, Aaron and Charlie were breaking forward whenever possible. Jacob and Jake offered a great work rate and strong running down the wings with Lucas leading the attack and had one effort strike the post. At half time it was a 0-0 stalemate. Subs Zack and Harry contributed well after coming on at half time and it was after Zack’s shot was blocked Jake passed to Charlie who scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win for Aycliffe. The second game saw more chances finding the net as Aycliffe dominated in a 4-0 win thanks to goals from Lucas (2), Zack and Charlie.
U9’s – (Russell Foster) vs Waldridge Park Glanton. After a nervous start, Aycliffe settled into the game, and started moving the ball swiftly. Chances for Aycliffe brought saves from the Waldridge keeper, and some quick, well worked corners saw decent efforts at goal. Both teams were keeping the ball on the floor and looking to attack whenever they could – Aycliffe with arguably the move of the game today, with the move starting with a 1-2 between the Keeper and the centre back, moving the ball swiftly via every NAJFC player, across both sides of the pitch, with most being either one touch passes or 1-2’s. Waldridge started the second half brightly, with a balanced second half saw both sides have chances. All in all, an excellent game of football in the bright winter morning Sunshine!
U10’s – we were at home today against a very good Greatham team, so a good team performance was needed, and the lads didn’t disappoint. It was a tense affair with both sides playing dome great football…..Aycliffe looked solid at the back and threatening going forward and it was well deserved when we went 1-0 up with a great team goal. We managed to hold on for a brilliant 1-0 victory, so well done lads……The second game really saw Aycliffe push on, with the team combining well in all areas. The game finished 4-1 to us, so all in all a great mornings work!
U11’s – We were away @ league leaders and currently unbeaten Marton FC Blues. We started well & took the game to Marton. Both teams had chances in the 1st half with Aycliffe using their wings to put pressure on the Marton goal. Half time 0-0…Second half and the lads unfortuently fell behind, but kept battling, with Nathan making some fine saves including a penalty. A missed throwing where the ball was clearly out enabled Marton to catch us unaware and they scored a second…final score 2-0. Unfortuently, luck was not on our side today, but a fantastic performance…..MOM was jointly awarded to Nathan & Curtis, Keep it up boys!
U13’s – We were away again today against Kader, who sit a few places above us in the league so it was always going to be a tough ask to repeat our last result of an away win…..BUT…..what a team performance today! We fell behind after a moments lapse of concentration allowed Kader in to go 1-0 up. HT 1-0. Second half saw the lads fight for every ball, the teamwork was a pleasure to watch with the whole team putting in a shift. Our hard work was rewarded with a great equaliser through Lewis Hynes, who shortly after added a second which seen us win 1-2. That’s 2 away wins on the trot and unbeaten this year, keep it up lads…MOM was awarded jointly between Harry Barnes & Jay Ryder, just awesome!
U14’s – A decent season so far with 8 games played in 2014, 4 wins, one draw and 3 defeats and unbeaten in the last 3 games as we went into the 2nd half of the season! Our 10th game and 2nd of 2015 came yesterday again a close game against Eaglescliffe Elementis where we had chance after chance but failed to capitalise, and we eventually lost, once again by a single goal 2-3. Keep going lads, a great bunch of lads, with great team togetherness!
U16’s – The Under 16’s were away to Top of the League Stockton West End ‘A’ today, they’ve only been beaten once this season…….by us at home!! Unfortunately, despite a great battling performance from all the lads, the result wasn’t to be and the League leaders won 4-1, but the score didn’t reflect the hard work and passion that the lads all showed today. MOM which was chosen by the Ref went to our own goalkeeper Dylan Robinson for some fantastic saves, well done Dylan….A week off next week so rest up and lets get back to winning ways.
U23’s – We welcomed Guisborough to our home ground for the quarter final of the cup, and that in itself is a great achievement in what is a debut season in the U23 league. The lads gave it their all and It was a tough game today against really good opposition. Unfortunately, this year will not be the cup winning year, but we go again next week in the league. Today’s match official was excellent throughout and he awarded the M.O.M to Aycliffe’s keeper Joe Williamson who pulled off some fine saves so well done Joe.
U7’s & U18s – no game
