Students at Woodham Academy gathered to remember fellow pupil Emily Cook, who sadly passed away in March.
Emily was a bright and happy student who had been diagnosed with a brain tumour in the summer of 2016.
The day had begun with students arriving wearing blue, a tribute to Emily as this was her favourite colour.
In the afternoon, head teacher Christine Forsyth led an assembly that celebrated Emily’s life, remembering her energy, her sense of humour and all those things she loved.
Many in the school had already contributed to a memory book for Emily’s family, bringing in photos of her and drawing pictures of her favourite things.
Following the assembly the entire school community gathered outside.
All of her year group were given a balloon and her best friend, Millie, released the first. All others followed the students reflecting on her life with a minute’s silence. Students then continued the celebration by giving Emily a round of applause.
All the money that has been rasied by the school through the events that it held will support Clic Sergent and the Solan Connor Fawcett Family Trust.
These charities were selected by Emily’s parents as they had provided the family with support during Emily’s illness.
A spokesperson for the school said that she will be remembered for her winning smile and her love of life.
