Students at Woodham Academy continue to benefit from the significant investment that has out into state-of-the-art ICT facilities.
The Academy proudly boasts almost 400 Windows machines, all of which are less than three-years-old, which equates to a ratio of more than one machine to two students.
In addition, the Academy’s ‘Mac Suite’ has been developed providing invaluable training particularly for those students who are particularly interested in a career in music technology or art.
Students from last year’s Year 11 were the first in the school to undertake the GCSE Computing course that has been earmarked by the Government as the most desirable ICT qualification for employers due to its curriculum content.
Students from Woodham Academy exceeded the performance of others in the country by 8%, with 75 % of students achieving an A*-C grade compared to the national average of 67%.
In addition to their curriculum experiences, investment in ICT at Woodham Academy will benefit students in their home.
“The ongoing development of our bespoke Cloud platform will allow all students on roll at Woodham to download the most recent version of Microsoft Office onto their home computer for the time that they are at Woodham free of charge,” said Woodham.
“This will allow students to benefit from working on the most up to date software packages at home and addressing any compatibility issues that may have previously arisen. ”
