Aycliffe midfielder Nathan Wilson has this week pledged his future to the club after turning down an approach from fellow Northern League outfit Marske United.
Wilson started the season in Aycliffe’s team, but has been an unused substitute in each of the Newtonians’ last three games.
The additions of Martin Butterworth and David Winskill in recent weeks have put further question on the former Sunderland midfielder’s future at Moore Lane Park.
Wilson however reacted by saying: “I’m going to fight for my place. I don’t want to leave and I don’t want to go to Marske.
“I love proving people wrong, and I’m happy to stay for now, and try to force my way back into the manager’s plans.”
Meanwhile, two confirmed exits from Moore Lane Park this week are defender Anth Campbell and winger Luke Black.
Both have struggled to get regular games and have decided to move to Wearside League club Darlington Cleveland Bridge.
As per league rules, Aycliffe can still hold the player’s registrations, and both players will remain available for Allan Oliver’s side, should injury and suspension force the Newtonians’ hand.
