EXCLUSIVE: By Martin Walker
Phil Wilson has told Aycliffe Today of his delight at Durham County Council’s decision to give outline planning permission to the exciting plans for Woodham Golf Club.
Councillors yesterday voted unanimously to approve the £32.1m development of the club at Woodham Village.
The project will include a 75-bedroom four-star hotel and up to 50 executive-style houses and bring new jobs to the town.
And this afternoon, Mr Wilson told Aycliffe Today: “The decision by the County Council to accept Washington Developments plans for the Woodham golf course is excellent.
“European-class golf can only be good news and will help put Newton Aycliffe on the map.
“Executive as well as affordable housing is needed in Newton Aycliffe, and with the arrival of Hitachi we need this kind of world-class investment in the town.”
