After an emphatic win against Cheshire Jets in their last outing, Dave Elderkin’s side welcome the Sky Sports cameras to the Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre on Sunday as the Durham Wildcats take on a very strong Leicester Riders side that currently lie third in the BBL.
Although the Riders are heavy favourites going into the game, it won’t be an easy ride as the Wildcats are full of confidence after coming back from being down by 18 points in the first quarter against the Jets to finishing the rest of the game strong and coming out victors 90-86, giving the Wildcats their second win of the season.
Wildcats could record back-to-back victories for the first time in the BBL with a victory over the high-flying Riders. Mike Capocci starred in the victory over the Jets with an outstanding 25 points and Chris Pearce contributed a BBL career-high 24 points to help the side to victory.
Both will have to be on form once more if the Wildcats are going to get anything out of this weekend’s encounter. Leicester Riders have a very strong team with players such as Ayron Hardy, Brett Royster and Cameron Rundles being the key players in the Riders roster this season, and they already boast two victories over the Wildcats.
Sky Sports will be in the building on Sunday, with the game being shown on Tuesday February 14 on Sky Sports 3 and Sky Sports 3HD, so you can come along to the Wildcats den, enjoy the electric atmosphere and then re-watch the game and see if you’re famous!
