One of the region’s most ambitious regeneration charities says it’s proud to support the Aycliffe Make Your Mark Awards by celebrating our ‘community champions’.
The Auckland Project is a regeneration charity working to establish Bishop Auckland as a must-visit cultural destination – investing multi millions of pounds to bring thousands of visitors to County Durham.
The organisation is sponsoring the Community Champions category for the Make Your Mark Awards, being held at Hardwick Hall Hotel on May 8, in association with Senstronics.
Sisters of Support, Palram and ALP Active at Greenfield Academy are hoping to win the award on the night after being shortlisted by The Auckland Project.
The Auckland Project CEO David Land said: “Our mission is to rejuvenate Bishop Auckland by celebrating its rich heritage and supporting community engagement.
“We believe that supporting local initiatives like the Make Your Mark Awards aligns perfectly with our vision of empowering the community and promoting local excellence.
“The Make Your Mark Awards provide a platform to recognise and celebrate the achievements of businesses and individuals within our region.
“By sponsoring these awards, we aim to highlight the dedication and innovation present in our community, inspiring others to strive for excellence.”
The Auckland Project operations director Kerina Clark (pictured) added: “This sponsorship is a testament to our commitment to the people of County Durham and our belief in the transformative power of acknowledging and supporting local talent.
“Furthermore, our involvement in the Make Your Mark Awards underscores our dedication to community development.
“We understand that true regeneration is not solely about physical restoration but also about nurturing the social fabric of our region.
“By supporting events that honour local achievements, we contribute to building a sense of pride and unity among residents, which is essential for sustainable growth.
“Sponsoring the 2025 Aycliffe Make Your Mark Awards reflects The Auckland Project’s ongoing commitment to supporting a vibrant, resilient and prosperous community.
“We are honoured to be part of this initiative and look forward to celebrating the remarkable accomplishments of our local businesses and individuals.”
The Auckland Project joins Husqvarna UK, Business Durham, GEM Partnership and Moonrise 24hr Recruitment as category sponsors so far, as well as headline sponsor Senstronics.
There are now only two category sponsorships remaining, while tickets are also on sale for the event, priced £85 (+vat) per person, or £800 (+vat) for a table of 10, which includes a welcome drink, 3-course dinner, table wine, souvenir programme and the awards ceremony.
