Newton Aycliffe’s good form in the Northern League has been thwarted after their latest league game fell foul of the weather.
Aycliffe had climbed back to second place in the first division with a win over Ryhope Colliery Welfare two weeks ago.
But their return trip to Ryhope at the weekend was postponed due to waterlogged pitch.
And with no fixture this weekend, Aycliffe aren’t due to play again until next Tuesday (December 3) for the re-arranged trip to Wearside.
Aycliffe have slipped to fourth in the table due to other results in the meantime, although they have at least three games in hand over all top three sides.
The Blues, currently managed by Peter Stromsoy, are enjoying their strongest Northern League campaign for a number of seasons, having won 10 wins, drawn one and lost four of their first 15 league games.
