A new programme featuring guided walks and countryside events in County Durham is now available.
The programme includes walks and events organised by Durham County Council’s countryside service which will take place between now and September.
There are just under 200 walks to choose from, ranging from one-mile easy strolls to 16 mile hikes and everything in between.
Maria Murphy, countryside development officer at Durham County Council, said: “Our guided walks are perfect if you want to get away from it all, make new friends or get some exercise.
“There are walks for all levels of fitness included in the programme and we hope people will be inspired to come along and join us.”
Highlights of the guided walks programme include walks that take in parts of the beautiful Pennine Way and walks that also combine art, photography and – for the first time – creative writing.
Other countryside activities will include map and compass courses, events to discover birds, butterflies, moths, bats and other species and walks to find out more about the geology and history of the county.
