Public opinion is being sought in a local survey, to gather residents’ views on alcohol consumption.
The online survey is part of a month-long campaign, led by Ron Hogg, Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner for County Durham and Darlington, who is raising awareness of a variety of issues around alcohol consumption.
Hogg aims to highlight the impact on emergency services, drink driving, health and well-being, young people and retailers. The survey is completely anonymous, and asks only five questions.
Hogg said: “It is important that residents have a chance to give their views on this topical subject. I am keen to hear people’s personal opinions and perceptions.
“For example, do parents think it’s acceptable to purchase alcohol for under 18s? Or are they affected by in their neighbourhood by anti-social behaviour due to alcohol?
“These are the type of answers I am keen on gathering, to inform my policies and the work of the Police and our partners.
“I’m delighted that almost a thousand responses were received in the first week.
“There’s still time to get involved, and I encourage adults who live or work in County Durham or Darlington to fill the survey in. It takes less than two minutes, and the responses should make a real difference in tackling alcohol harm.”
