Brian Atkinson has spoken to Aycliffe Today for the first time about leaving Newton Aycliffe.
The 41-year-old left Aycliffe as coach last November – this week he was appointed assistant manager at local rivals Spennymoor.
In our exclusive video interview with Atkinson, the former Sunderland midfielder explains his reasons for leaving Moore Lane Park.
He also talks about the new challenge that lies ahead with title-chasing Spenny – and looks forward to April 21, when he’ll take up an unfamiliar role in the away dug-out at MLP.
