Former MP and Cabinet Minister Tony Benn will answer questions on his life and career at two special events to coincide with this weekend’s Durham Miner’s Gala.
The veteran politician will take part in question and answer sessions at Durham’s Gala Theatre tomorrow (Friday 13th July) and Saturday (14th July).
Audiences will also be shown a preview of a new documentary about Benn’s life, featuring intimate interviews and archive film and photographs.
A candid and deeply personal film, Will and Testament, produced by Praslin Films, portrays his life through major UK events and includes footage of last year’s Gala parade through Durham city.
Fellow former MP Chris Mullin will introduce the film on Saturday and also lead the Q and A.
The sessions, which start at 6pm on Friday and 5pm on Saturday, are part of Brass: Durham International Festival 2012, organised by Durham County Council.
Tickets are priced at £8 per person. To book, visit Gala box office, call 0191 332 4041 or go online at www.galadurham.co.uk
