In the first of a four-part series, Dominic Sandbrook looks back at the years 1970 to 1972 as he begins his journey through the decade. Expect to see: the housing boom, the arrival of thousands of Ugandan refugees and the 1972 miners’ strike.
Waterloo Road: Wednesday 8pm, BBC1.
This week sees Headmaster Michael install extra security as he attempts to stem the flow of gang violence in the school. However, the funding for his plans are soon cut and he is dealt a huge body blow when he is told that the school’s future is under threat. Meanwhile Scout prepares to marry Danilo.
Get Your House In Order: Thursday 8pm, Channel 4.
This week’s edition sees antiques dealer Nick Allen and interior designer Abigail Ahern help a 57-year-old woman to part with her goods in an attempt to smarten up her house. The goods this week come in the shape of vintage dolls and toys which has resulted in her house becoming full to the brim with collectables.
Long Lost Family: Thursday 9pm, ITV1.
Get the tissues at the ready as this week Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell present yet another emotional edition of the show that reunites families. A desperate mother is hoping for a second chance with a child she gave up for adoption nearly 50 years ago and a woman is searching for the brother she has not seen for 40 years.
Piers Morgan’s Life Stories Frank Bruno: Friday 9pm, ITV1.
Frank Bruno appears in his first major interview for nearly a decade this week as he chats to Piers Morgan. The boxer recalls his journey from troubled adolescent to world champion and his sudden fall from grace as he suffers a personal meltdown afterwards.

Coronation Street sees the return of notorious rogue Terry Duckworth this week and as ever he smells the scent of money. Despite, punching his son Tommy when he first sees him, it is his money that Terry has his sights set on.
