Saturday 14th September – NYSD Division 2
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Redcar 1st XI – weather was mild and sunny. Redcar won the toss and chose to bat first.

Jack Slatcher 3 for 7, Patrick Howe 2 for 2 and James Layfield-Carroll 2 for 14
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 83 for 1 after 13.4 overs

Aycliffe’s first team finished the season on a high with a thumping nine wicket victory at home to Redcar 1sts, which condemned the former Premier League Champions to relegation to the third division for the first time in their illustrious history.
Jack Slatcher lead the way with the ball during the visitor’s innings finishing with the excellent bowling figures of 3 for 7 from seven tight overs.
Opener Luke Telford (sponsored by Dr Subham Christudas, pictured above) batted well in the Aycliffe reply top scoring with an unbeaten 31 off 47 balls and his innings included eight boundaties.
The win moved Aycliffe’s first team up to a highly creditable third place in the final NYSD 2nd division table for the 2nd successive season. Their final league playing record was played 24, won 10, drew 5, lost 6, there was 3 games lost to the weather and Aycliffe finished with 350 points, one more than fourth placed Norton 1st team.
