Our panel of three football writers give their predictions on Newton Aycliffe’s game this weekend…
Three points are awarded if our ‘experts’ pick the exact score, 1 point awarded if they get the result correct.
Glen took the lead with his bang-on prediction of a 1-0 home win versus Marske, so the pressure is on him to prove it was no fluke, as the trio lock horns once more.

Looking to improve their fortunes this week, the panel run their eye over the tricky trip to Willington.
Paul McGeary
A week ago I’d probably have predicted a defeat. We were probably as low as I’ve ever seen us while Willington had won eight from eight, and disposed of Northern League opposition in their first round qualifier. The Blue & Whites are not to be underestimated, and have gone on to nine in nine in the league, but with Allan’s new look squad quickly gelling and building up the bond which has existed so strongly in recent seasons, I think we are fast turning the corner, despite last night’s defeat. We’ve yet to win a Vase game, but I fully back the lads to remove that hoodoo on Saturday. The skipper hit the bar against Darlo, but I don’t think this one is the game to break his drought!
Willington 1-3 Newton Aycliffe
Glen Robertson
What a difference a week makes. From despair at Durham, Allan’s boys have bounced back. A dogged 1-0 victory over Marske gave the team a morale boost, before Wednesday’s good performance at Heritage Park showed what the club is capable of. Some better finishing and Aycliffe would have earned at least a point. Better finishing is also needed to see off a talented Willington side. With Dan Mellanby available again, I’m sure Aycliffe will be progressing.
Willington 1-2 Newton Aycliffe
Martin Walker
Buoyed by a gutsy performance at Darlo, and with more new signings in the ranks, we’ll start this game on fire and go on to win comfortably.
Willington 0-3 Newton Aycliffe
