Our panel of three football writers give their predictions on Newton Aycliffe’s game this weekend…
Three points are awarded if our ‘experts’ pick the exact score, 1 point awarded if they get the result correct.
Glen took the lead with his bang-on prediction of a 1-0 home win versus Marske, so the pressure is on him to prove it was no fluke, as the trio lock horns once more.

Looking to improve their fortunes this week, the panel run their eye over the visit of Darlington.
Glen Robertson
A lot of hard work has gone into this fixture, so I’m just hoping the game goes ahead. While we all love a bit of snow at Christmas, there’s nothing more frustrating for those involved with Northern League clubs. Aycliffe need this game to go ahead and the club’s committee will be striving to get it on. So prediction one is ‘Yes, it will be on’. As for the game, it’s unlikely to have much bearing on our final league position. It’s the double-header with Penrith and the home game with South Shields that will be important. For the Quakers, this game is a must-win. The Royal Blues will give them a very competitive game, as happened at Heritage Park, but fall just short once again.
Newton Aycliffe 1-3 Darlington FC
Paul McGeary
Local derby, league leaders, struggling hosts, Brian’s back at Moore Lane Park, record crowd anticipated. Pick your headline! I’m going for this, “Quakers crack on thin ice at Moor Lane Park!” Home win.
Newton Aycliffe 1-0 Darlington
Martin Walker
I couldn’t possible publish which headline I’d like to see in the Sunday Sun on Sunday, I’d get lynched! We always do raise our game against the bigger sides and I’m sure the lads will be wound up by an inflated gate – hopefully our biggest ever – which will create a cracking atmosphere, but something the Darlo players are used to, so that will go in our favour. We’ll give them a good test, and as much as I’d love to see us win, I’ll settle for a score draw.
