Aycliffe NPT Sergeant Mark Edwards continues his regular blog on Aycliffe Today…
As I type this blog there have been yet more changes to the Neighbourhood Team here in the town.
As I recently reported our town centre PCSO, Scott Hodgson, was successful following an application to join our prisoner handling teams within the Crime and Justice Command.
Further to that I can now confirm that Scott has officially left the team and we all wish him every success in his new role as an investigator.
PCSO Gavin Laycock has stepped into his shoes and as of now will be working alongside Pc Rogers for the Shafto St Mary’s area.
We also have a new addition to the team in the shape of PCSO Nicola Shaw.
Nicola will be working on West Ward alongside PCSO Chris Noble and (soon to return also) Pc Mike Welch. Nicola has much experience as a PCSO having worked elsewhere in the south of the county.
Please take the opportunity to follow the exploits of the team via social media where we provide updates as to incidents that have occurred, give results to investigations and court proceedings, provide details of the PACT forums as well as other general issues.
Search for Newton Aycliffe Neighbourhood Police Team on facebook or @AycliffeNPT or @Aycliffe_FiveO on Twitter.
We are always looking to amass new followers to share information with our communities and partner agencies however all I request is that you do not use these forums to report incidents to us requiring a Police response.
These sites are not monitored 24 hours a day and it can lead to great frustration if people send us a message reporting an ongoing issue and we are not seen to respond for several days.
This does not mean that there are no Police Resources on duty, it simply means that the sites are not been monitored by members of the team at THAT time.
I am sure you can appreciate that the team spend most of their time in the community (where I am sure our local residents expect them to be) and Facebook and Twitter are checked whenever downtime allows and NPT Officers are back in the office doing admin based tasks.
Meanwhile, some details of recent court appearances…
Clive David Cooper, 37, from Newton Aycliffe, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court last Friday (June 28) charged with assault on a Neighbourhood Warden. He was fined £128, ordered to pay £100 compensation, ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge, and required to pay £85 court costs.
Richard Steven Hannigan, 25, also from Aycliffe, appeared at the town’s court last Wednesday (June 26) charged with damaging a door to the value of £150 belonging to another. He was found guilty and conditionally discharged for 12 months and ordered to pay £466 compensation.
Rodney William McGregor Falla, 40, from Chilton, appeared at Peterlee Magistrates Court on June 12 charged with theft of a bottle of rum and two bottles of vodka from ALDI in Newton Aycliffe on May 11 this year. He was made subject of a community order where he must comply with an alcohol treatment programme under the direction of probation, he was also ordered to pay £24.53 compensation to ALDI.
Bye for now, and remember…
Be good!
