Aycliffe Neighbourhood Police Team Sergeant Mark Edwards continues his regular blog on Aycliffe Today…
It’s been a relatively busy time since the last blog. What things might interest readers…hmm, let’s see…
We received information surrounding suspected drugs activity at an address in Oaklea Mews, Aycliffe Village which, when acted upon by the team in the form of a Magistrates Search warrant, resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old male on suspicion of possessing controlled drugs after a quantity of cannabis was recovered from the property. He was subsequently charged with the matter and will soon be appearing at court.
Following a series of thefts from vehicles in the Woodham and Kestrel Court areas of the town the week before last, the NPT worked in conjunction with our colleagues at Shildon collating information and building up evidence that saw the arrest of a 26-year-old male from the Shildon area. He was also charged with offences and will soon be having his ‘say’ in court also.
A 23-year-old male and a 26-year-old male – both from the Bishop Auckland area – were arrested last Friday on suspicion of being involved in the theft of alloy wheels from a business premises on Horndale Avenue that morning. They were dealt with by the Serious Crime Team and have been released on bail whilst other enquiries are carried out.
Meanwhile, some court results for you…
Kyle Mawson, 25, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court recently charged with shoplifting offences. He was found guilty and received a conditional discharge for 12 months.
David Michael English, 23, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court in relation to theft offences. He was discharged conditionally for 12 months and ordered to pay compensation to the value of £380 and costs of £85.
Can I take this opportunity to remind everyone of the PACT meetings that are held once a month in each ward area across the town – these are forums where you can come along and meet your local Police representative and hear about things that are happening in your area.
Priorities are also set based on what the communities feel impact upon them the most and the Police and our partner agencies then work at tackling those matters.
That’s all for this ‘edition’.
TTFN as they say.
Be good!
