Newton Aycliffe-based Tekmar Energy has been awarded a contract with Prysmian PowerLink to supply 84 of its patented Teklink cable protection system (CPS) on the prestigious Rentel offshore wind farm project in Belgium.
It comes after Prysmian PowerLink awarded Tekmar a similar contract for supply of CPS for the Wikinger Offshore Windfarm project which is currently part way through a successful installation campaign in the German Baltic sea.
Rentel will be the 46th offshore wind farm project Tekmar has supplied, taking the total number of supplied cable protection systems to well over 5,200 units.
The supply for the contract will be carried out at Tekmar’s state-of-the-art production facility on Aycliffe Business Park, which is expected to be completed early in 2017.
Installation will start this summer and will be performed by Tideway B.V.
Tekmar’s CEO James Ritchie (pictured above) said: “We are immensely proud that Prysmian has once again chosen Tekmar for this prestigious work, particularly following our seventh generation of product development for our Teklink cable protection system offering quick installation and continued reliable subsea performance.”
With more than 30 years’ experience, Tekmar is a market leader in the design, manufacture and supply of subsea cable, umbilical and flexible protection systems for the renewable energy and oil & gas industry.
