Newton Aycliffe-based Tekmar Energy says it has become the first North-East offshore company to be awarded an international standard accreditation.
The market leading technology provider of protection systems for subsea cable, umbilical and flexible pipes and offshore engineering services has announced a successful transition to ISO 45001:2018.
It’s an International Standard that specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, to enable organisations to proactively improve its OH&S performance in preventing injury and ill-health.
The team received the news from DNV GL that Tekmar is the first company in the North East to achieve the certification, but also the first offshore and manufacturing company in the UK to be recommended for ISO 45001:2018.
HSQE manager Rob McGill said, “It has been a busy and exciting year at Tekmar and the results are visible.
“We are so proud of this recognition. Achieving this milestone gives our customers confidence that we are committed to the continual improvement in Health and Safety and that Tekmar are leading the way in the industry.”
Russell Edmondson, managing director of Tekmar Energy, added: “Key to our core values are safety and people. From the great work of all of the team it is a great credit to achieve this prestigious certification.
“We will continue to invest in the future in our aim to become the global partner of choice for subsea protection systems in the offshore energy industry.”
