A teenager was lifted by Aycliffe police officers on Tuesday after being accused of theft.
The male was identified from CCTV footage as being responsible for shoplifting in the Simpasture area of the town.
Police acted on their evidence and swooped to lift the young man on Tuesday.
As revealed by Aycliffe Neighbourhood Police Team Sergeant Mark Edwards in his blog on Aycliffe Today, he has been charged and bailed to the courts.
