A Newton Aycliffe teenager was given an 80-hour community order after assaulting a police officer.
In his latest blog on Aycliffe Today, NPT Sergeant Mark Edwards revealed how Mark Aaron Dial, 18, from Aycliffe, appeared at the town’s Magistrates Court charged with assault by beating, assaulting a Police Constable in the execution of his duty, and for using threatening words and behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
He was sentenced to do 80 hours of compulsory unpaid work in the community, and to be supervised by the Probation Service for a 12-month rehabilitation period.
He was also ordered to pay compensation costs of £200.
Meanwhile, Matthew Paul Gibson, 20, from Aycliffe, appeared at the Magistrates Court charged with drink driving. He was fined £220, ordered to pay £85 costs, and disqualified from driving for a period of no less than 20 months.
