A leading North East based specialist software provider is set to grow thanks to fresh investment in its company at NETPark’s incubator.
Global Management Platform Ltd (GMP), a tenant of Durham County Council’s groundbreaking science and technology park near Sedgefield, recently secured investment from a venture capital company dedicated to building successful high growth businesses across the North East of England.
The investment will enable the company to recruit additional staff and build on its already improving market potential.
GMP also appointed Keith Baldwin as non-executive chairman earlier this year, bringing a wealth of experience and contacts in the financial services sector which will help to accelerate the businesses’ growth.
NETPark is a growing community of science and technology companies with GMP as the latest firm to grow and develop in the Incubator with assistance from the specialist business support provided by Business Durham, the council’s business arm.
Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for economic regeneration, Cllr Neil Foster, said: “I firmly believe that the unique support and facility packages we provide at NETPark are key to the park’s continuing success and growing reputation, nationally and internationally as an excellent place from which to do business.
“It is crucial we build on our successes in the emerging science and technology industries to ensure we can offer young people in our county exciting opportunities on their doorsteps.
“I am delighted with GMP’s expansion plans and look forward to watching them grow further.”
Kevin Maddison (pictured above), Global Management Platform managing director, said: “Relocating the business to NETPark has helped the company manage its core costs as the business prepares to expand. The financial arrangements allow the business to forecast more accurately what will be required as we grow.
“The inward investment from Northern Ventures recently was seen as a milestone in the company’s development and the initial tranche of money received is being used to help the business grow through aggressively marketing our products to create awareness; our clients believe we are a ‘well-kept secret’.
“As we grow our plan is to increase the staff levels by three in the next 12 months, mainly in the sales and customer support areas of the business.
“As a North East based business we use UK data centres based in the North East of England and have no intentions of moving our contracts from the region no matter how big the company grows. Overseas data centres may look cheaper but at what risk to the client and their customer – we simply won’t do it.
“Our latest product is more universal in the business sectors, GMP: Crystal is our CRM that is helping us to serve our local North East business community and the product can be seen in our link www.gmp-ltd.com/crystaloverview for those with an interest.
“Our specialist products provide sales administration systems for the property developers and financial services product providers in the latest cloud technology.
“With NETPark’s flexible contracts allowing us to expand internally as we need the space, I don’t see a need to move offices again in the foreseeable future.”
