County Durham residents are being reminded to recycle their old television sets, if replacing them for the digital switchover.
Switch over begins in the Tyne Tees region (which includes County Durham) between 12th and 26th September.
Television services are going digital and all analogue services will be switched off.
From this date people watching televisions which still use the old analogue signal, will have to upgrade their existing TV with a digital set top box to receive the digital service or may have to buy a new digital TV.
Old TVs can be recycled at one of the 15 household waste recycling centres across the county or, if still working, can be donated to the County Durham Furniture Help Scheme at Chilton Industrial Estate, Chilton.
Full details of the recycling sites and or the furniture help scheme can be found at: www.durham.gov.uk/recycling or contact Durham County Council on: 03000 261 000 or email: [email protected]
