Woodham Academy Year 9 student Emma Price has had a successful career so far in swimming.
She joined the local swimming club Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club just before turning nine-years-old.
Her success started in her first competition when she won eight gold medals. Since then, Emma has gone on to win 179 medals overall – seven at Northeast Regionals, 21 at Northumberland and Durham Swimming Championships (N&D’s), with 101 of them being gold medals.
Emma has also been the 200m Freestyle Champion 3 times (2019,2020, 2022) at the N&D’s and has a total of 81 club records.
Due to her dedication and hard work, Emma has been part of development programmes at Woodham Sports Academy and is currently on the Northumberland and Durham Performance Pathway programme, which includes weekly training sessions with other top North-East swimmers.
Emma is aiming to qualify for the Swim England Summer Nationals. In addition, to this she has also taken part the swimming clubs recent sponsored swim ‘Swim for Ukraine’.
John Moore, head coach at Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club, said: “Emma is a superb athlete who shows great ability, attitude and attendance which has been a major factor in her outstanding success to date.”
Assistant coach and PE teacher Miss Leybourne added: “Emma is an outstanding member of the swimming club who is looked up to by many other swimmers.
“She is dedicated and driven and will go on to have amazing success, due her attitude and talent.
“Woodham Academy wishes Emma all the best in her upcoming competitions and cannot wait to see what the future holds for this talented athlete. “
