Woodham Academy students are working hard to raise funds for an amazing opportunity as part of Woodham’s Thailand Experience.
Students were selected following applications and interviews in June and have worked exceptionally hard over the summer to raise funds for the trip.
Finley, Harry, Will and Franki have organised a sponsored bike ride where they will be cycling 40 miles around County Durham.
This has been arranged by the students and they will be completing the challenge on Saturday, October 28.
All of the funds raised will go towards the work they will be completing on the trip. Including volunteering in The Elephant Nature Park, Chaing Mai.
This weeklong aspect of the trip will have students working directly with the elephants on the park, where they will look after the animals, feed and care for them, as well as working with others in the local area.
The Elephant Nature Park is also a dog and cat sanctuary and the students will be working directly with the animals and the professionals there.
The Elephant Nature Park has students working all day and it is a life-changing experience to be a part of.
Woodham’s Thailand Experience is a bespoke trip created for Woodham Academy students.
“As well as their time at the Elephant Nature Park, they are emersed into the Thai culture and learn about the history of the country,” said the school.
“They will visit different areas in Thailand including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Kanchanaburi.
“They will visit local markets, temples and the Bridge over the River Kwai where they learn about the historical significance of the area in World War II.”
