November saw the return of the annual Children in Need fund raising event at Woodham Academy.
The academy has been raising money for the charity for over 13 years. The whole school actively participated in the event, in terms of fancy dress, photos with Pudsey, and the sale of raffle tickets in order to win a Pudsey cake made by the academy’s resident Chef, Linda Vipond.
The day was a resounding success, allowing a day of fun to be constructive in terms of raising both money and awareness for the cause of Children in Need.
The day started with a guest appearance from Pudsey himself who welcomed the students into school.
Members of the public even stopped to say hello to Pudsey and donate at the gate. Pudsey was at the gate again at the end of the day to thank students for their participation.
All year 7 students were encouraged to take part, some organising photos with friends and fancy dress day, with the addition of some innovative ideas which some pupils participated in during their weekend.
The students made a superb effort in both raising money and their positive attitude towards the event.
Linda’s Pudsey cake was a huge success with students buying raffle tickets throughout the lunchtime with a Year 7 student, Abbie Scott, winning the prize.
The total amount collected was £548.02. Thank you to parents for supporting the charity and providing fantastic costumes.
