Students at Woodham Academy have raised over £500 for charities of their choice.
This forms part of the school council initiative to get young people more involved in school life.
The council is the body of elected students who have the responsibility for representing the views of the student body within school.
In the last academic year, the charities chosen by the student body were Sara’s Hope Foundation, If U Care Share and Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust.
Money was raised through a variety of events held in school, including non-uniform days.
“This is just one of the many opportunities students at Woodham Academy have to become actively involved in their school community” said Mr Walker, head of citizenship in the school.
It’s amazing to see the young people work so hard together for the common good of those around them.’
Each charity will receive a cheque, presented by Angel Woods (council secretary), Sonny Fielding (council chair and head boy) and Hannah Cox (council chair and head girl).
