Woodham Academy students got on their bikes explore the great outdoors at Hamsterley Forest.
The school offers mountain biking to its students as part of its extensive range of sporting and extra-curricular activities.
Launched last year, the weekly after-school trips have resumed with the return of lighter evenings.
Deputy head teacher Danny Morgans said: “We are committed to providing our students with every opportunity to try new activities and improve their skills.
“Mountain biking is a challenging and enjoyable way to improve fitness and explore the outdoors.
“We are very pleased to have added mountain biking to the wide range of sports we offer to our students at Woodham Academy.”
Woodham Academy is making good use of a bike trailer, funded by the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership, enabling students to participate in mountain biking during the spring and summer.
