Two students from Newton Aycliffe have been using their design skills to recycle old items into new.
Catriona Kitching, 18, (pictured left, above) and 17-year-old Daniel Bolan, both from Aycliffe, have been working hard to make something new from something old ahead of the eco fair in Darlington on Sunday.
The BTEC L2 & L3 Art and Design students, with help from the Carpentry and Joinery Department at Darlington College, have used the skills they have learnt on their courses to create a wonderful range of items to sell, including bird and bug houses out of reclaimed wood, hair accessories from found materials and recycled paper greetings cards and even voodoo dolls made from reclaimed materials.
Photography and graphics students have also produced a range of exciting photographic imagery taking inspiration from the town’s green spaces.
A selection will be entered in a photographic competition to raise awareness and promote the green spaces in Darlington.
The articles are on sale at the Green Fair at South Park on Sunday (27th May) – all proceeds will go to the North Air Ambulance charity.
