This year as part of Woodham Academy’s Christmas preparations they have been supporting Junction 7 to provide the local community with Christmas Hampers.
Junction 7 is a crisis intervention charity who help people with a variety of needs such as housing and operate an emergency foodbank.
Woodham wanted to help the charity and contribute to their efforts to help alleviate the pressures over the Christmas period.
Each tutor group were responsible for making a hamper and collectively worked together to donate food to those in need.
Woodham’s Student Ambassadors oversaw the project, helping different tutor groups design their Christmas Hampers and they promoted the cause around the school.
Alongside this, the Leadership Academy have also been working with Darlington’s A&E and Children’s Ward.
Initiated by Y11 students Heston Reid and Maisie Bellamy, they have asked tutor groups to donate to those who find themselves in hospital over the Christmas period.
Head teacher Andrew Bell said: “We are extremely proud of all the students in our Woodham community for their generosity, they have come together to make a difference to the lives of others.”
