Electronics group Filtronic is set to beat its turnover target for the year after strong sales in both of its divisions.
The Newton Aycliffe-based business, which makes products for the mobile phone and broadband markets, said that sales for the year to the end of May are expected to reach £13m.
The prediction is £1m ahead of the expectation-beating £12m it forecast in April, following a strong end to the year in both its wireless and broadband businesses.
Filtronic said: “During the final two months of the trading period, the broadband business performed better than April’s upgraded expectations in both sales and profits, helped in part by end-of-programme purchases by a major customer and favourable currency movements.
“The wireless business also finished the year strongly with sales on several programmes for the US market gathering momentum.
“Broadband continues to have encouraging order coverage into the first half, whilst wireless enjoys better forward visibility than is customary for its filter products, which are normally subject to short notice order call-off.
Filtronic’s preliminary results will be published on 23rd July.
