Stephenson Way entered into the spirit of Children in Need last Friday, with the children participating in a range of activities and competitions; not to just raise funds but also learn about why Children in Need started and the children it helps.
Friday was designated as a non-school uniform day, with children making a donation to shed their uniforms for the day. Many of the children chose to go the extra mile and wore spotty pyjamas and dressing gowns!
The children were invited to dress a teddy bear at home and enter it into a best dressed bear competition in their class. There were spots and eye-patches aplenty as lots of children entered in each class. Each class winner received a prize in a special assembly attended by all of the Pudsey imitators.
In the afternoon, children were tasked with creating a new bandana for Pudsey Bear. Some of the designs were so good that Pudsey may have to consider ditching the spots next year! Each class chose a winning designer who received a prize.
All in all, the day was a great success and fantastically supported. The final total raised was £225.36 and the children left knowing that their enjoyment of the day had also helped those less fortunate.
