Jason Steele is hoping to help Middlesbrough get their season back on track at home to Nottingham Forest tonight.
Tony Mowbray’s side have now gone six league games without a win – their last victory was at home to Hull on Boxing Day – slipping to ninth in the Championship table.
But goalkeeper Steele, who’s recently returned to the Boro side after a thigh strain, is hoping to get three points against second-bottom Forest at the Riverside this evening.
The Newtonian told Aycliffe Today: “Forest will be coming up and trying to get some points on the board, they’re looking at relegation at the minute which is probably a false position with the squad they’ve got.
“We’ve seemed to struggle against them when we’ve played them in recent times, but we’re looking to get our season back on track.
“I’ve looked at the league table and if we win we could go up to fourth, it’s that tight, so hopefully we can get three points tonight.”
Steele says the decision to abandon Saturday’s game at Ipswich after 37 minutes wasn’t ideal for the Boro fans who travelled.
“We were all really frustrated, especially travelling five hours on the coach,” he added.
“Calling it off after 37 minutes wasn’t ideal for anyone, let alone the supporters who’d made the journey down there.”
