Newtonian goalkeeper Jason Steele is feeling the love again after making his Blackburn Rovers debut.
Aycliffe lad Steele, who joined Rovers from Boro on a season-long loan in August, kept a clean sheet in his first game for the Lancashire club in their 1-0 win at Fulham last Saturday.
The 24-year-old stepped in for ex-England star Paul Robinson, who has a knee injury, to cap off a perfect debut.
Steele told Rovers’ official website: “The gaffer said to me to do what I do best and do what I enjoy and it was great to be back on a football pitch.
“It has been a little while. Credit has to go to the staff for bringing me in and giving me a bit of love that I needed.
“It was a great opportunity for me and I’m delighted that we’ve won. The clean sheet gives me an immense amount of satisfaction and pride.
“To win 1-0 away from home in this league is always great.”
Steele will be hoping to retain the number one spot when Rovers entertain Watford at Ewood Park on Saturday.
