St Mary’s Church are hosting a fundraising coffee morning next month, with all proceeds being donated to Newtonian Paul McGeary’s charity push as he looks to raise £10k for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
Paul, 33, was diagnosed with Leukaemia in November last year and has spearheaded a campaign which has seen almost £6k raised to date, with various other events planned throughout the year to help him achieve his goal.
The coffee morning – being organised by church volunteers Marie Matthews and Paul’s mother Mary Warke – will take place on Saturday March 21st, with doors opening at 10am. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.
The usual teas, coffees, cakes and biscuits will be available throughout the morning at a small charge; while there will also be a raffle taking place on the day with various prizes on offer.
Mary said: “We have all watched on as Paul has organised various things to raise money for the charity and we thought we would do our bit, while opening our doors to the community at the same time.
“We thank Father Whelan for allowing us the use of the church for this event and we are confident it will be a huge success. We welcome everyone to support this event, and we’re looking forward to an enjoyable morning.”
Anyone unable to attend the event, who wishes to donate, can do online via the secure charity page www.justgiving.com/Paul-McGeary2
