Students from Greenfield Community College have been achieving great things in football recently.
Both the Year 8 and Year 10 boys football teams have enjoyed a successful cup run reaching the final of the Ben Potts Cup.
The Year 10 football team beat Bishop Barrington in the semi-final 3-2 to take them to final where they will play either Sedgefield or Parkside.
The final will take place at St.John’s Catholic School in Bishop Auckland on May 16.
Meanwhile in the BASFA Cup the boys Year 8 team also showed resilience as they fought back from 1-0 down to beat Durham Johnston to get into the final for their age group on the May 13.
Girls football at Greenfield Community College is going from strength to strength. The squad has grown and there is now a regular cohort being led by former professional player and manager Martin Gray, who is providing regular coaching and inspiring the players.
The teams all train regularly at Greenfield and are able to make use of the state-of-the-art football facilities using the 3G pitches, indoor gym and sports hall to improve their skills and work together as a squad.
