Seven men are due to appear before Magistrates at Newton Aycliffe on Friday morning to face drugs charges after early-morning raids on Wednesday.
Police launched a major drugs operation to tackle a suspected heroin network near Newton Aycliffe on Wednesday morning.
Nine people were arrested in the first part of the drugs crackdown in the Spennymoor, Ferryhill and Chilton areas of County Durham – which could affect people in the Aycliffe area.
Seven men, aged between 25 and 39, have been charged with a total of 61 supply-related drugs offences, and will go before magistrates in Aycliffe.
A man and woman were also arrested in Spennymoor. He has been charged with a drugs offence and has been bailed. She has been released without charge.
Police seized items including a computer, mobile phones and £300 cash.
About 100 Durham Police officers were involved in the operation.
The man released on bail was arrested at a flat in Holborn Street, Spennymoor. He has been charged with possession of a class A drug.
The 25-year-old woman was arrested at another property in Spennymoor.
The arrests followed months of investigative work by Durham Constabulary specialist officers targeting suspected heroin dealers.
