The search is on for County Durham’s most dedicated schoolchildren.
Durham County Council wants to reward youngsters who have an outstanding school attendance record.
The authority is tracking down all teenagers in their final year of secondary school and children in the last year of primary school who have never missed even half a day in class.
The 100% achievers will be invited to a celebration event when they will be presented with an award and taken on a tour of Newcastle United’s home ground.
Maureen Clare, Durham County Council’s head of countywide services, said: “Never missing even half a day of primary or secondary school is a fantastic achievement and one we want to reward.”
Parents who think their son or daughter has a 100 per cent attendance record during their secondary or primary career should contact their school immediately.
To be eligible for the award, the pupil must continue to attend every school session until their official leaving date in the summer.
Durham County Council is also checking with schools to see who might qualify.
