Students from Woodham Academy have been delighted to receive individual letters from various members of the royal family.
Year 9 students were asked to compose a letter to a member of the royal family.
They were encouraged to conduct research on someone they admired which would help form the content of the letter.
The process helped to improve their hand-writing, literacy skills and understand the conventions of formal letter writing.
Over the course of six weeks, the students have received responses from Queen Elizabeth, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, all of which praised and thanked the students for their letters.
Thomas Howe, 13, said “I couldn’t believe Prince Harry actually wrote back to me. He sent me a photograph too”.
Teacher Mrs Drew said: “It was a fantastic experience for the students who endured a difficult drafting process to see the value of their hard work.”
