A daredevil car mechanic took Red Nose Day to the extreme by dying his hair for a week!
Anthony Gibson, an employee at Gregg Little Testing Centre on Aycliffe Business Park in the town, raised more than £400 for the national fundraising effort.
The 27-year-old, from Darlington, was sponsored by colleagues, customers and family members for donning the wacky barnet for a week.
Girls in the office also raised £100 by baking cakes and selling them to customers for £1 each – taking their total to more than £500.
“It’s just a great cause and there’s a good camaraderie among staff at Gregg Little so I thought it’d be a good laugh,” said Anthony.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support and it’s fantastic that we’ve raised this amount of money, which is well over our target.”
Secretary Claire Thain added: “It’s been a huge team effort but Anthony has done particularly well to take a bit of stick for looking a bit silly all for charity!”
Staff at Gregg Little aim to organise at least one fundraising event every quarter.
MD Gregg joined mechanics in their Movember antics last year, while further events are planned in the coming months.
