Woodham Community College say their new-look uniform and school logo won’t be the only obvious change this summer.
Woodham will officially convert to an Academy in September, and a wide change in branding as well as new décor will be the obvious cosmetic difference.
But headteacher Christine Forsyth has told Aycliffe Today how the new look also reflects the school’s switch in emphasis – with the change in name also representing a change in its approach to all subjects.
In a Video Interview with us, Mrs Forsyth said: “The uniform is part of a wider change in branding – a new logo, new colours, new uniform… there’ll be some interior re-modelling and re-decoration, so the school will look different the minute you walk in.
“That reflects a change of emphasis within the school. We were a technology college, we will focus on digital technology, but also on all subjects.
“I think a school should be excellent in every respect, not just in one area, and I think the day of the old specialist college has gone.
“I want the school to be excellent in English, Maths, Sciences, the Arts, Humanities, Sport, every area… so that whatever a child is good at, they’ve got the best education, the best teaching and the best possibility to succeed at this school.”
