The creators of Aycliffe Today Business have launched a new quarterly publication for the Sunderland and Durham region, Wear Business – the first issue, featuring Hays Travel owner John Hays, can be read on the publication’s accompanying new website wear.business.
Aycliffe Today editor Martin Walker and his business partner Dave Allan, whose firm Resolution Media & Publishing is behind Tees Business and Tees Life magazines, have joined forces with experienced writers Graeme Anderson and Colin Young to launch Wear Business, as the new voice of business in the Sunderland and Durham regions.
You can see a digital version of the first issue online here: wear.business/about-us/wear-business-online/
Based at the BiC in Sunderland, the first issue of Wear Business is now being distributed to firms across the Sunderland, Durham, Seaham, Peterlee, Washington, Houghton-le-Spring and Chester-le-Street areas.
The cover feature in the launch issue of Wear Business focuses on John Hays, the Hays Travel founder, whose Sunderland company was behind the salvage of the beached Thomas Cook holiday empire.
Also featured in the first issue are Business Durham, Great Annual Savings, Baldwins Durham, Jacksons Law Firm, Finchale Group, Finley Structures, Spennymoor Town FC and Teesside-based Mandale and their latest developments at Mandale Business Park.
And the launch issue also attracted advertising from Ramside Hall, Sunderland City Council, Durham Business Club, Sunderland AFC, Media Savvy, Teesside University, Tomahawk Steakhouse, Lemontop Creative, Lincoln Miles Estates, Sweeney Miller Law, Sunderland BiC, Cornerstone Business Solutions, Elliott Westland Insurance Brokers, J&C’s Roofing and Building Services, First Choice Labels, Aspray and Teesside International Airport.
Martin, who runs Aycliffe-based Mantis Media, which publishes the Aycliffe Today Business magazine, Dave said: “Just as Tees Business has become the voice of business in the Tees region, so we aim to make Wear Business a similar success across Sunderland and Durham.
“The first issue features the same high quality look, feel and content, it will be seen everywhere across the Wear business region and is brimming full of positivity about a region that – similar to the Tees Valley – often gets forgotten by other so-called North-East publications.
“With Resolution’s experience of making a real success and impact with Tees Business behind them, Graeme and Colin will be shouting from the rooftops about all that is positive and happening in the Wear business region.”
Colin Young is a freelance writer and has previously worked for The Sun and Daily Mail, while Graeme Anderson formerly worked for the Sunderland Echo and now runs his own PR agency in the city.
Martin added: “The response to the new publication has been hugely positive and we attracted much interest from businesses wanting to book space in the first issue of Wear Business.
“Colin and Graeme are Wear Business’s men on the ground, while Resolution’s backing is the proven guarantee of a truly first class, professional publication that businesses will be proud to be associated with.”
The new publication’s 5,000 print run will be delivered FREE to the business communities of the Wear region four times a year.
Copies will also be directly mailed to the movers, shakers and decision-makers across the Wear region.
