Police dogs Jet and Ben recently visited Stephenson Way Community Primary School as part of work the children have been doing on social awareness and safety in the community.
The dogs were impeccably behaved as their handler Clare spoke to the children about the need to be wary of strangers and the importance of not taking anything from, or following them and telling a parent or a trusted adult immediately.
The presence of the dogs added a friendly face to a serious subject and the children listened carefully before asking important questions and recounting what Clare had said.
Clare went on to speak about the roles that dogs undertake in the police force, with the children being amazed at the range of extremely important safety procedures that rely on specially trained dogs.
Following the talk to children enjoyed being allowed to gently stroke Ben, who visibly enjoyed the attention of the children.
