Police are appealing for witnesses after a “rampage” of crimes in the town.
A total of 12 incidents of criminal damage were committed between 10pm on Saturday January 21 and 6am on Sunday January 22, between the area of the Turbinia pub and towards Hawkshead Place and Burnhope, near Horndale.
Four vehicles were damaged in the attacks, including ripped wing mirrors, while missiles were thrown at the windows of three houses.
Police Community Support Officer Mike Welch, pictured at Aycliffe’s police HQ on the Industrial Park, told Aycliffe Today: “We’re treating this rampage of offences extremely seriously.
“It has caused a great deal of upset among residents and the culprits need to be accountable for it.
“We’re absolutely convinced there will be local people who have information about this, whether it’s been discussed on Facebook and other social networking websites, or in the pub.
“We have CCTV footage which has been sent off to be enhanced and we’re hoping that will help us identifying these offenders.
“In the meantime, we’d ask anyone who knows anything to come forward and help bring these people to justice.”
Police are particularly keen to speak to a young male seen running down Burnhill Way around 3am on Sunday January 22.
