A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the car he was driving collided with a tree.
The one-vehicle collision happened on the A1(M) southbound at 4.50pm on Thursday, September 26, around a mile after the Burtree Interchange, near Darlington.
The 45-year-old driver was the sole occupant in the car – a Honda CR-V I-VTEC – which left the road and collided with a tree.
He sustained serious injuries and was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, by air ambulance.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or has any dashcam footage of it, to come forward.
