Goalkeeper Scott Pocklington says he’s “honoured” to become a Newton Aycliffe Centurion – and hopes he’s playing for his hometown club for a long time.
The former Darlington shot-stopper is the feature interview in Aycliffe’s triple award-winning matchday programme for Saturday’s game at home to fellow strugglers Durham City.
Asked how it felt to become a member of the Centurion’s Club, Pocklington told the programme: “It’s a great honour to have done it. It’s always nice to keep a clean sheet in any game.
“I love playing for Aycliffe, it’s a great club. Everyone from the players to the staff and the management are great to get on with and I couldn’t imagine playing for anyone else.
“There has been a couple of chances to move but I don’t want to play for anyone else. I hope to be here for a long time yet.”
To read Pocklington’s interview in full, don’t forget to get your programme on Saturday, priced just £1.50.
The game kicks off at Moore Lane Park at 3pm. Admission is £5 for adults and £3 concessions.
