Pioneering Care Partnership’s (PCPs) longest running service, Options, are organising their Summer Festival next week at the Pioneering Care Centre in Newton Aycliffe.
The annual event is a brilliant day out for the whole family and this year promises to be even better with live performances, a bungee run, strong man competition, bouncy castle, face painter, stalls and games.
There will also be an Afternoon Tea service at the festival costing £4 a person.
The festival – being held on Thursday, August 17 from 12-4pm, is being organised by a group of adults with learning disabilities who attend Options day service at the Pioneering Care Centre.
Options is a user-led day service promoting independence, choice and social inclusion and is available to people over the age of 18 with a learning disability.
The members of Options have been working hard to organise the event designing posters, making festival decorations and planning the event from start to finish.
In previous years, members have took part in a 12-hour sponsored Danceathon at the festival to help raise money.
This year they will be taking part in a surprise Fancy Dress Flash Mob where they will perform a very special dance routine at different times throughout the day.
All of the money raised from the day’s events will go towards new resources and activities for the day service. If you would like to sponsor the Options Flash Mob, you can do so here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/options-flashmob
The Options Social Club takes place every Thursday evening and they will host the after party which includes a BBQ and disco from 5:30-8pm bringing the festival to a close.
Everyone is welcome and it’s free to attend and is sure to be a brilliant day. If you would like to book afternoon tea at £4pp or the BBQ at £3 a ticket in advance, please contact Options on 01325 321234 or email [email protected].
Options promotes independence, choice, control and social inclusion to local disabled adults. It runs Monday to Friday and members take part in activities including daily living skills, adult education sessions, confidence and self-esteem building, healthy living workshops and community activities.
